LCF Law is holding a free seminar for charity leaders and senior staff on managing the main risks facing the sector, at Hazlewood Castle on 10 November 2026, from 10am to 1pm.

The Managing Risk within the Charity Sector event brings together speakers on investment, finance, employment law and insurance. It follows an earlier charity event run by the law firm, which covered people, property, investment, cash and fundraising.

Matthew Wells, Partner in Investment Management at Evelyn Partners, will cover the risks of not having a robust investment strategy. Adrian Rodaway, Senior Partner and Chartered Accountant at HPH Chartered Accountants, will look at how strong financial governance can build trust and reduce risk.

James Austin, a partner and employment lawyer at LCF Law, will set out practical steps charities can take to reduce the risk of successful tribunal claims when dealing with disciplinary issues. Chris Barritt and Ryan Parker, Branch Directors at insurance brokers PIB, will talk about cyber risk and how charities can protect themselves.

Practical guidance for trustees

Austin said: “Charities operate in an environment where managing risk is critical, whether that relates to financial decisions, governance, employment issues or cyber security.”

He said the seminar was meant to give accessible guidance that charities could use in their own organisations, and a chance to share experiences with others in the sector.
