Lauren Brown, a urology nurse specialist at Leeds-based Vyne, has been awarded Queen’s Nurse status, a title given to experienced community and primary care nurses who demonstrate excellence, leadership and a deep commitment to patient care.

Vyne, launched in 2021, describes itself as the digital health partner for bladder and bowel care. Its online platform and mobile app let healthcare professionals, care providers and patients order, manage and track prescriptions in one place.

Brown qualified in 2012 and held roles at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust before moving into company nursing. She has worked with Vyne for more than five years as part of its team of specialist nurses, who provide free patient assessments, product reviews and ongoing support for users of the platform and app.

During her 14 years in nursing she was involved in creating the UK’s first Nephrostomy Framework, developed by the multidisciplinary National Nephrostomy Working Group to standardise nephrostomy management and aftercare across services.

Vyne’s head of nursing, Andrew Bird, encouraged her to apply for the title.

“To be supported by the team at Vyne to pursue the Queen’s Nurse status is a huge honour,” Brown said.

Bird said: “Huge congratulations, Lauren; it’s an outstanding achievement and thoroughly deserved.”
