Amity Brew Co doubles Farsley taproom covers after second Finance Yorkshire investment

A second £150,000 from Finance Yorkshire paid for the refurbishment of the Leeds taproom and the launch of La Grassa, an all-day Italian-American kitchen.

Amity Brew Co has doubled the number of covers at its taproom in Farsley, Leeds, to 80 after a second £150,000 investment from Finance Yorkshire, which announced the deal on 13 October 2026.

The money paid for a refurbishment of the taproom, including the space that used to be the brewery, and the launch of an all-day food offer. The kitchen, La Grassa, is an Italian-American paninoteca and diner created by Jimbob Phillips and Brett Lee, co-founders and directors of Stuzzi Leeds.

Finance Yorkshire’s first £150,000 investment allowed Amity to move its brewing to Albion Mills in Greengates, Bradford, according to the release.

Sales and accreditation

Amity was launched during the 2020 Covid lockdown by brewery industry experts Rich Degnan and Russ Clarke, and director Verity Clarke has joined them in the business. The company employs more than a dozen people.

Finance Yorkshire said most of Amity’s £100,000 in monthly sales comes from the taproom. The brewery also sells to bottle shops, bars and restaurants and exports to Europe and Japan.

The company has gained Salsa food safety accreditation, which Finance Yorkshire said opens the way to selling to larger pub groups and growing its business-to-business sales. It has also added a tank at the brewery, which now holds a taproom licence, and is looking at opening a second pub.

Verity Clarke, head of communications, said: “Finance Yorkshire’s second investment has enabled us to expand into the space at Farsley which was the brewery and double our covers to 80 and increase capacity.”

Alex McWhirter, chief executive of Finance Yorkshire, said the fund was “pleased to support the Amity team’s expansion at its original Farsley site”.
